We are Kate & Tex, non-breeders but dog sport enthusiasts and owners of a Great Dane named Sterling, who pointed in AKC Conformation, and Rhodesian Ridgebacks in Conformation and Lure Coursing competition. We are in the San Antonio, Texas metro area. We do not breed, but have a wonderful breeder in each breed we can recommend. We will attempt to educate enthusiasts in what to look for in ethical breeders and how to be socially responsible owners.

Our AKC accredited obedience trainer for Piper and Sterling had described each early in puppy disobedience as a “Heathen”, so we were inspired to become the Great Heathen Army. Kate & Tex are also fans of the series Vikings, which features the Great Heathen Army led by the sons of Ragnar in season 4.  Ragnar Loðbrók (Ragnar “Furry-Pants”) is possibly a 28th (through Ivar “the Boneless”), 34th (through Sigurd “Snake-in-the-eye”) and 40th (through Bjorn “Ironsides”) Great-Grandfather to Tex — providing he was not a composite character of several different historical figures simplified in the sagas… But if you are of significant European ancestry, you may not know it but he is probably also your ancestor too…
